  Fat Surgery
  Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduction in lifespan as well as the quality of life.

Body mass index (BMI), and skin fold tests are used as tools to classify obesity. Though skinfold tests require tools and skilled persons the BMI can be calculated by all.

BMI = Weight in Kilograms/Height in sq.meter.

  It tells you whether your body weight is appropriate for your height.

  OVERWEIGHT        25-29.9 ( Indians are given a cut off at 22.5 )
  OBESITY CLASS I     30-34.9
  OBESITY CLASS II     35-39.9
  OBESITY CLASS III    40 and above

WHO estimates indicate that obesity kills four times as many people as cigarette smoking every minute. There is indeed a deep nexus between obesity and various diseases.

A fat surgery person invariably has high cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Mal functioning endocrine Glands, Respiratory and Digestive disorders, which are the causes for the stroke, cardiac arrest or cancer which ultimately is reported as the reason for the death.

Just by reducing the body weight, the risk to these diseases can be minimized by nearly 90%. The reason to be slim is not only for the attractiveness thereof, but also to mitigate the perils to healthy and long life.

So, indeed while speaking about preventive health care, obesity tops the list.
