  Keyhole Surgery
Also called laparoscopic surgery, this less invasive method of operation is creating a revolution in the surgical world. Keyhole procedure involves the use of a scope that magnifies internal structures and projects these magnified images onto a video monitor in the operating theatre. Surgeons use special instruments through smaller incisions (about one inch) to make repairs. Thus, there is reduced pain, less scarring and a faster recovery time. This ensures that patients undergoing keyhole procedures often experience less stress before and after the surgery. At LifeLine Multi Speciality Hospitals, the Chief Surgeon has performed 20,000 such surgeries.

This surgical technique finds vast application in gynecological surgeries as well as those of the gallbladder. With time, this procedure will find application with hernia, heartburn and lung surgery amongst others.

There are various types of keyhole surgery such as –

Vagotomy and Gastrojejunostomy (for ulcers)

Heller’s procedure (for achalasia, a swallowing disorder)

Hysterectomy

Ovarian Cystectomy
