CLAWS OF DEATH - THE CRUEL FATE
Fate is cruel! Nivedha's plight has endorsed it. Nivedha Kumari 19 year old girl during her 1st year MBBS in Russia, developed acute stomach ache and she was rushed to the nearby hospital. It was diagnosed, that the appendix was causing the pain and the same was removed. During the surgery, she was administered an overdose of anesthesia. This led to cutting of the oxygen supply to organs and she suffered brain damage, cardiac arrest she lost her consciousness and went in to coma. She was brought to AIMS, Delhi and subsequently moved to GH, Chennai. Dr. Radhakrishnan at GH, Chennai, felt that stem cell therapy would help her. Nivedha was referred by Radhakrishnan to Dr. J. S. Rajkumar requesting a stem cell therapy to revive her. On 15th September 2009 the therapy started, within a span of 2 weeks, Nivedha has shown remarkable improvement. She is able to feel the pain, tears roll down her cheeks. She is able to concentrate on objects and also moves her head a side. She is also able to take solid food orally.
