![]() The Dictionary says: Resilience means being able to adapt to life's misfortunes and setbacks. Are you cheerful and happy in spite of everything in life not really going the way you want it to go? When something goes wrong, do you bounce back instead of resigning to fate and accepting failure? Congratulations! You possess remarkable resilience! Resilience won't make your problems go away nor is resilience being devoid of feelings or suppressing negative emotions. When adversity strikes, you still experience anger, grief and pain, but you're able to go on with daily tasks, remain generally optimistic and go on with your life. Being resilient also doesn't mean being stoic or going it alone. In fact, being able to reach out to others for support is a key component of being resilient. Resilience can give you the ability to see past the troubles, find enjoyment in life and handle stress better. It is a protection against mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety. Do you think you lack resilience? Or feel it is not good enough? There is good news, it can be cultivated and also improved.
