What is Coronary Angioplasty and stent implants ? Coronary angioplasty is an interventional cardiac procedure by which the block in coronary arteries are opened up using special metal mesh devises called stents are develoyed at the site of angioplasty to keep the arteries patient .The whole procedures and no incisions or sutures In angioplasty the patient is admitted to hospital one day prior to procedure .The procedure is done in a cath lab using a mirco puncture in the groin or wrist. Using micro tubes called guides catheters the coronary arteries are cannulated and the blocks crossed with fine wires called guide wire.The ballons and stents are passed over the guide wire to dilate the blocks . The procedure take about 45 minutes to one hour After the introduction of stent technology the risks of coronary angioplastry have become negligible.1-2 patients in 100 still may need emergency by pass surgery or bloodtransfusion I am recommended to take oral contraceptive pills to postpone my pregnancy.
