The half an hour spent with Shivakumar, was a transforming experience.

There are many traits in him that we should emulate, but the most touching and the finest quality is his 'Gratitude'.

Shivakumar, suffered from some digestive trouble for which he was operated upon for about 5 times, followed by wrong diagnosis of cancer, for which he underwent chemo-therapy. All this reduced him to mere 23 Kg fragile self from his original 89Kgs.

He was told that he would die in a matter of 2 months. But Mr. Shiva Kumar's fighting spirit did not diminish in size even though his body had.

Through a referral he met Dr.Rajkumar, who reassured Shiva Kumar to put him back to normalcy.

Dr.Rajkumar, performed 2 more surgeries on him and the cost of his treatment for a period of two months came to Rs.3,50,000/-, which Shivakumar could not afford. He could barely muster Rs.30,000/- from a few philanthropists and well wishers.

Dr.Rajkumar, graciously waived off his medical expenses.

With tears, Shivakumar says that, Dr.Rajkumar also provided financial support for the medicines that he had to be administered during his post operative recovery.

Shivakumar was without a job for almost a year. Now he found an occupation and every month 10% of his income is sent to the hospital in repayment of not his debt, but the gratitude he nurtures for the surgeon who put life back into his body.

Whenever and wherever possible he narrates his story of recovery to others and what little he gets, he hands it to the hospital in support of those who come to the hospital and are unable to meet the expenses.

Indeed Shivakumar's life teaches us that ,

Even if everything seems lost you can still make it if you have faith and fighting spirit.
Gratitude and love, if true, will never diminish in intensity.
