I am 37 year old woman. I am careful about my eating and also exercise regularly. I do not have any health problem. In the last one year I have gained nearly 8 kg. I don't know why? Please advice?

There are many factors to weight gain. For instance, as we age over, BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) will slow down, meaning, our body's energy requirement has come down. It can be due to a metabolic or hormonal imbalance, loss of muscle and bone density. Only though a complete analysis can the reason for the weight gain be ascertained. Be assured that, whatever be the cause underlying your weight gain can be removed and rectified. A consultation with a nutritionist is recommended.

I am diabetic. Is it better to eat rice or chapattis?

There is a myth that chapattis are far healthier choice than rice. Incidentally both rice and wheat have comparable composition.

The rice, it is refined by removing the husk, the wheat is also consumed in the flour form, which again is similar to refining as the work of breaking the wheat particles to a fine state to be done by the digestive system is done outside.

Nevertheless, it is easier to track the quantity, as the chapattis can be easily counted, whereas a cup of rice is a vague description as the cup size vary and some are adept a filling and compressing two cup quantity into one.

Hand pound rice or brown rice as well as wheat with fibre enrichment or ground with flax seed or mixed with Soya or channa flour will be better choices.
