We have heard about medical emergencies, but somehow we feel that we may not encounter one!

When you have severe symptoms only if you are in the right hands at the right time, the problem can be resolved and life saved.

Indeed, Ms. Lavanya, (name changed), aged 23 years, when she left for work in the morning, little realized that she would spend the night at the hospital. When she developed acute pain in her abdomen, she blamed it on the junk food she had the previous day. A few at the office suggested it could be the appendix troubling her. As the day progressed, her condition worsened and was immediately taken to Dr.Rajkumar for consultation.

Abdominal scan indicated that a cyst in the ovary had burst, with significant internal bleeding.

She underwent an emergency surgery and got the cyst and the split tissues and fluids sucked out.

The highlight of this emergency procedure was that it was done by SILS (or Single Incision Laparoscopic Procedure) with just a single hole through the navel. Indeed it was the first of its kind in the country.

The next morning, Ms. Lavanya was on her foot, and fit enough to speak to us.

The technological advancement however sophisticated must ultimately serve the patient by easing discomfort and relieving pain.
