Patients with severe Heart Burn who do not respond to oral medication, usually have the stomach wrapped around the gullet (fundoplication).The equipments used in west were unavailable in India so I had to rework the surgery to the suit the equipments available here.
A Thing is difficult; till you master it. Bariatric Surgery is no exception.
It was a complex surgery requiring a lot of precision and concentration almost a decade when I performed the first Bariatric surgery. By employing superior technology as well as through perfecting the technique, by performing more than 300 surgeries. Today, Bariatric surgery has become one of the routine procedures like an appendectomy (removal of appendix). It can be done by SILS (Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery) with just a single hole in the navel.
It is indeed a boon to all those who are struggling and suffering by carrying an extra burden of 30 kgs and more.
